Hammer Toe

A Hammer toe deformity is a condition of the toe where the toe is bent downward. Normally it affects the second toe. One common cause is flat feet. In normal feet with adequate arch support, the arch acts as a "spring" for the heel to toe stepping action while walking. Without this spring, the toes flex forward in an attempt to "grab" the ground, and after time, they bend forward permanently
